Supporting Statement |
|
The idea of the supporting statement is to provide information about you, as a player, to the selectors. This information can include any titles won by the players, any good tournament results or any good wins. This is a maximum of 400 words. For good tournaments, this can be a tournament a player has won, or one where the player has performed and finished up well above their seeding. E.g. If you were seeded 60th in a tournament and finished 30th then this could be considered to be a good tournament. Good wins are a win which was unexpected based on the various strengths of the 2 players. E.g. if you are rated 800 and you beat a 1400 that would be considered to be a good win, however if you were 1200, then beating a 1400 would be nice, but a win against a 1600 or an 1800 would be much more impressive. Include any other information that you think may be useful, such as if you have been selected for any state or national squads (such as Ergas) and anything else which you feel it is important for the selectors to know. For an example of how to write a supporting statement please see attached document for a sample of a Supporting Statement. |
